I joined Crossfit East Providence/Fitt101 in search of something new, motivating, and effective to help me lose weight. I have always struggled with my consistency and discipline when it came to consistent exercise and diet. I always had the tendency to lean all the way one way, and then catapult all the way to the other. I would train, lift, and diet aggressively, lose excessive amounts of weight, only to lose steam and gain it all back. I had researched Crossfit and it seemed to me that it would provide me with a type of overall lifestyle change, and sense of community, which is what I was really looking for.
My experience since joining Crossfit East Providence/Fitt101 has offered me much more than I even knew to hope for. For the first time in my life, I am consistently attending my classes and staying committed to my workouts. I attend the 5 AM class, and am literally excited when my alarm goes off each morning because I am hopeful that my performance that day will exceed where I was the week before. Ironically, it is the first time in my life that I am not obsessing about losing weight, but rather about meeting my personal goals, but I am dropping the weight anyway! Overall, I have developed an incredible sense of confidence in my athletic abilities that I never had before; I have a sense of comradery with my coaches and classmates; and I am consistently setting, meeting, and exceeding my personal goals. Coaches Mike Brown and Mercedes LaBelle are incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and make the workouts what they are for me. My only regret is not joining sooner than I did!
